During world war 2 the Germans were trying to enact their final solution. Their final solution was to kill everyone who did not fit their strict standards. The undesirables were then either immediatly killed or hoarded into work camps to build supplies that would aid the German effort in Europe and Africa. The camps were called concentration camps, these camps were run in horrible conditions where inmates died of starvation as well as malnutrition and dysteria from the lack of food as well as the poor quality. The camps in turn were run by the Schutzstaffel, also known as the SS, these were the elite guards of Hitler.
My name is Wilhelm Stieglitz and i was an S.S. officer during the reign of Adolf Hitler. I was assigned to Auschwitz on Febuary 17, 1940. I lived on the camp in barrack U2. my day consisted of listening to orders and having to follow them.In between the selection and gassing processes I had an easy day which consisted of sleeping and relaxing. I was clothed well and fed well. I was equipped with an mp-40 and a german lueger, these were my primary weapons for the duration of my time at Auschwitz. we had to make the jewish prisoners wear yellow badges on their arms. We took the prisoners to ghettos to be seperated from the rest of the population. as we took over certain territories we would transport jews to different concentraion camps. The SS branch was run under Heinrich Himmler. in order to be in the SS branch we had to prove that we had no jewish ancestors. I wasn't a fan of the jews, but I found our treatment to them too harsh. We treated them like animals. They were starving and thirsty constantly, and we would beat them for no reason. Often times the prisoners would just die of hunger, or from other forms of malnutrition. The ones that did not expire like this would often be killed in the gas chambers. We were clever, we had disguised the gas chamber as a showering facility, unfortunately those who had been here long enough learned the true purpose of the facility. From there the bodies would be burned in the crematorium. We had joked with many of the prisoners telling them that the only way out of Auschwitz was through the tall chimney.
